Google Android Phone T-Mobile G1Today the Google Android G1 goes on sale in 95 cities across North America. If you've been salivating since the announcement of this phone, you can try and get on at your local T-Mobile retail store, but good luck! The first 1.5 million phones were pre ordered a few weeks before the launch and although T-Mobile has promised to have some available for the launch date "today" I think you'll have a hard time getting your hands on one.
 IPhone 3G
The IPhone 3G has been out for almost a month now and none of the geekBlue team has one; so much for being oober geeks. We've managed to get our hands on a couple of the display models at the store and have the following review for you.
What's New on the Iphone 3G
3G Speed - Surf the web and download email over fast 3G networks.
Maps with GPS - Find your location, get directions, and track progress along your route with Google Maps.
App Store - Browse games and applications, then download and install them directly onto your iPhone.
iPhone in Enterprise - Get push email, calendar, and contacts with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
At $199 (8GB) or $299 (16GB) + 2 year contact (3 if you live in Canada) its a little pricey; but if I had the cash to get one and the death wish to sign the contract, I might pick one up.

iPhone Reception Boosting ClearBoost Case
Have an iphone but get crappy reception? The reception boosting clearboost case from Griffin might be your solution. We say might because other tech websites that have done some testing have found that it only has a significant signal boost increase when the iphone close to your face. In most of the tests the signal strength increased by as much as 4x. However when the iphone was placed on a desk or any other place the signal increase was barely noticeable.
Conclusion: If you talk directly into the iphone a lot and are having troubles with signal reception it's probably worth getting the $30 accessory from Griffin. Vudu TV Set Top Box - 5,000 Movies on Demand
Want to watch new movies without the hassle of running to the video store or downloading them from a torrent site? The Vudu set top box might be the right for you. At $400 the Vudu currently gives you access to over 5,000 movies at $2 to $4 a rental (24 period) or $15 to purchase outright. All you need is a fast Ethernet connection and and of course a television.
Vudu offers near DVD quality picture and sound, something that the xbox 360 and apple tv can't claim at the moment.
The company is aiming to have over 10,000 titles available within the next couple of months. Halo 3 weapons and no online co-op
|
Yeah, you read that right. As of right now, Halo 3 co-op remains an
offline only experience. CVG has the scoop from the latest issue of EGM.
According to Bungie's Frank O'Connor, the team is still working on a way
to properly implement online co-op. As Frank puts it, it's possible for
players to be nearly a mile apart at certain points in the game, which
makes online co-op a challenge. He notes that measures could be put into
the game to prevent such vast separations, but that it "would make
it not feel like Halo anymore." He concludes by saying that "If
we can make it happen in a way that works well, we will - and if it works
badly, we won't." Considering that the Bungie crew is currently putting
the finishing touches on Halo 3, we imagine online co-op won't make it
into the retail disc. Any hope of such a feature likely rests in the possibility
of downloadable content. So, if you've been waiting to try out some four
player online co-op, you may be waiting for a while. Via |
Update on the $100 laptop
|
| Break open the piggy banks, girls and boys, production of the XO1,
the $100 laptop, has been ramped-up, with hardware suppliers being given
the go-ahead to produce components needed to build millions of the machines.
For less than the cost of a pair of designer jeans, a needy child can
become a participant in the global online community as part of the One
Laptop per Child (OLPC) program. Once disparaged by such tech worthies
as Intel chairman Greg Barret and Microsoft’s Bill Gates, the laptop
now draws praise from the tech community for its innovative design. Whether
the child lives in the deserts of Libya or the mountains of Peru, there
is a powering option available for them, including solar, foot-pump, or
pull-string power. To accommodate schoolchildren without a roof over their
heads, the laptops also come with a sunlight-readable display. More |

No surprises here: $100 (after instant savings, mail-in rebates and 2

Nokia 5700
|
This Nokia is made for music. There just happens to be a cellphone
built in. You can "access your music in an instant by twisting your
phone and pressing the dedicated music keys". I think that means
the music keys are hidden in the twisted area. Listen to tunes with headphones
or rock out using the hi-fi speakers. It has a large viewscreen for easy
video capture and taking pics using the 2 megapixel camera. Via
